Details
Session One - Tiling
There will be a brief outline on the making of mosaic and its techniques. A mini demonstration will be carried out. This is followed by the distributing of materials and the starting of the workshop. It usually takes 3-6 sessions to complete your first project. All completed work should be left out to dry for a minimum of 24 hours.
Final Session - Grouting
In this session, your work should be ready for grouting. Methods of grouting will be taught and applied to individual pieces. Grouting fills the crevices between the mosaic tiles, adding considerable strength to your art piece. Please allow 48 hours for your mosaic project to dry completely.
Material Fee and Tools
All materials and tools you need to design and complete your projects are provided by the Mosaic Workshop. Some materials such as ceramic plates, glass nuggets, mosaic pieces, mirrors, stained glass, pebbles, ply wood and adhesive are available for purchase too. Please note that there will be available storage for uncompleted mosaic pieces.
All mosaic workshops are kept casual for both adults and kids. Students are encouraged to bring their own designs to the first class. Do note that all mosaic materials are included in your project. Mosaic Workshop can also provide you with an array of mosaic books, studio samples and catalogues to look at for choosing a design for your project.
The basic fee for an adult mosaic workshop is $150.
Attendance
Mosaic Workshop would like to accommodate all eager mosaic artists. Therefore, all mosaic sessions are by appointments only. We would greatly appreciate all students calling up before attending any mosaic sessions.
Deposit
A 50% deposit is required in order to sign up for workshops. Please issue all payments to Nanette Zehnder.
